Atishoo!

press2.jpg

A visual fantasy
for children under 6.

A runny nose. Bleary eyes.
Feeling hot and bothered?
And stuck in bed?
What could be more uncomfortable and boring than a cold?

But when the imagination is well and alive,
what amazing dreams, fantastic scenes and
brilliant creatures can be made up?

Every child has had a cold at one point or other in his young life! And it can be miserable, drippy and uncomfortable!

But take a box of tissues, a roll of paper, and just the right dash of light from the bedroom window and get ready to go on an incredible journey of illness through to recovery!

“Using a combination of visual theatre techniques such as light, shadow, paper and puppetry, Dynamic New Animation (DNA) will lead young children through specially composed soundscapes and stunning physical imagery to engage and stimulate them to see and feel beyond the ordinary. Being sick will never be the same again!” say Ruby Lim-Yang, Artistic Director, ACT 3 International.

Join us as our wonderful imagination takes you through strange lands represented by the four elements - air, fire, water and earth. Each element symbolises respectively the feelings and experience of having symptoms of the ‘flu’ such as shivering and sneezing, feeling the heat of the fever and sweating it out and then finally becoming well and strong again!

Don’t miss award-winning puppeteers Rick Conte and Richard Medrington in the stage adaptation of French author Jean Giono’s 1953 book THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES!

This is a wonderfully inspiring story of a simple man of the land, who moves with his dog to a remote part of France and plants trees in the simplest way possible: 100 in the morning and 100 in the afternoon!  The barren wasteland, where only wild lavender grows, is transformed into a great forest, which rejuvenates the local ecosystem.  A new population of birds and people brings renewed life, proving that the simplest ideas have the most profound effect.
